Welcome to the Mahaska County Pheasants Forever Website! We have redesigned our website to give you better information and easier access to what we do as a chapter! We are always looking for volunteers to help us in our efforts to conserve wildlife habitat right here in Mahaska County! Thanks to the support of our community, the Mahaska County Pheasants Forever chapter has been able to carry out a wide variety of quality projects. In the 25 years just past, Mahaska County Pheasants Forever has invested $698,722.00 for conservation, including the local projects below:
v 566 food plot projects for 4603.5 acres, at a cost of $28,639.00 v 486 nesting cover projects for 5260.6acres, at a cost of $226,579.00 v 89 controlled burn projects for 2695.0 acres v 10 wetland projects on 474 acres v 376 woody cover projects for 719 acres and 144,518 trees, at a cost of $29,679.00 v 10 land acquisition projects for 1189 acres, at a cost of $84,591.00 v Helped sponsor an annual outdoor classroom for all Mahaska County fifth graders which had over 400 people attend v Sponsored the High School Shooting Team v Sponsored an area Youth Hunter Education Challenge Team v Mahaska County Pheasants Forever has reached over 6249 youth in its youth programs v Helped sponsor the annual Youth Outdoor Field Day, attended by over 225 kids v Invested $170,683.00 into youth education and public awareness v Purchased over $87,613.00 of habitat equipment v Contributed $2500.00 to the Legislative Action Fund v Hosted our 11th Youth Mentor Pheasant Hunt v Mahaska and Poweshiek County Pheasants Forever have partnered together and hired at Farm Bill Biologist v Contributed 10% of our banquet profits, to the Iowa PF Land Trust for land acquisition v Hosted a Field & Stream “Hero For A Day” event at the Hull Wildlife Area, 112 volunteers worked on 5 different habitat projects

v Fight to protect CRP in the Farm Bill v Continue our commitment to Conservation Education in Mahaska County v Sponsor local girls to attend Outdoor Journey Camp v Sponsor local boys to attend DNR Outdoor Skills Camp v Cost-sharing cover on CRP, WRP & wetland restoration projects v Expanded private lands programs such as food plots, nesting cover, and mid- contract management v Add more to local land acquisitions
